What is it they say about rats being the first to realize the ship is going to sink and trying to save themselves first?
The Chicago Suntimes had an article discussing the eligibility of Rahm Emanuel which uses as one of its closing points in favor of a possible Emanuel candidacy a quote:
"If you are a registered voter and continue to vote from your residence, you establish what we consider the intent to be a resident of the city of Chicago," Chicago Election Board Chairman Langdon Neal told CBS2Chicago.
No surprise for people in Chicago, where the Graceland Cemetery has long been one of the most faithfully 100% Democrat Precincts, as the long term residents of the Cemetery continue to express their unambiguous intent election after election after election, all, clearly, from the afterlife.

I particularly like the phrase:

It's a small world, it sure is

So, I just discovered that my most favoritest preferentially all time number one cartoonist, Bill Watterson, author, artist and philosopher extraordinaireand creator of the "Calvin and Hobbes" cartoon, is from "Chagrin Falls", a name which I recognized upon sight, as being very close to one of the places I know by heart (memory, soul and spirit), Chesterland.
I'm pretty sure, as a teenager, I went to see more than a few of my Uncles' away softball games there, as well as having more than a few construction jobs that way out, which was one of the "nice areas" where we'd do concrete pool decks, and such...

They were the only cartoon books I think I own, to be honest... except maybe for an old 1960s Dennis the Menace I scraped up out of an old garage sale basket out of nostalgia.
But the C&H books I actually asked for as special occasion gifts (b-day or Christmas, who remembers now...) but something that I have treasured and re-enjoyed throughout the years...

The only bad part is all those little Disney characters singing background right now in my subconscious...

Just for "Starters"

So we're sitting there in bed, not ready to get up, and the Lil'One comes out with "Daddy, what's the 9163 for?"

Since we we had just been reading the electronic alarm clock, where the digital squared off "0" (to be honest, the cross-stick in the middle is always a tiny bit visible) got confused with an "8", leading to it being 9:87 in the morning, it takes me a minute to realize she's talking about the numbers on the commemorative "Illinois license plate" with a photo of "The One" on one side and PBO down the other which wife purchased just after the election during the craze of "memorabilia" that was sold here at the news stands, and which is still proudly displayed above her dresser.

...that's just a number for the license plate
"e cos' un 'license plate' Daddy?" (what is a license plate?)
...it's the "targa" that they put on the back of a car, so everyone has a different number, it's just a number, it doesn't mean anything special

"And what does 'PBO' spell Daddy?"
... no, that is President Barack Obama... PPP...resident   BBB...arack   OOO...bama
"Ah...(oh the thrills of young enlightenment!), sono iniziali... (they're initials) come B per Banana, e O per Oca (Goose)"

Sometimes you just have to have Faith that they will learn the right lessons in life, and smile when you realize they are managing well on their own...

How can making so much sense be called "stupid"?


lately, talking to friends in Italy, they keep repeating how stupid and brainless Sarah Palin was... just can't figure it out. I must be pretty stupid too, as most of what she says seems to make perfect sense...

"McDonald's defended its Happy Meals on Wednesday against claims by a consumer advocacy group, with McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner saying that "Happy Meals are a fun treat, with right-sized, quality food choices."

Skinner's letter addressing this issue comes a week after the Center for Science in the Public Interest sent a letter to McDonald's threatening to sue if the company didn't stop using toys to market Happy Meals to young children.

"By advertising that Happy Meals include toys, McDonald's unfairly and deceptively markets directly to children," the letter stated."

So I am wondering... ???
would it be considered more fair, were McDonalds to market directly to adults?
So all those Saturday morning cartoons and related breakfast cereals... where do I get my refund, now that I have a cavity I need filled?

And when will they get around to suing "Kinder" for their chocolate surprise filled eggs? Since there is no guarantee what is inside the egg, maybe they can get them on Vice charges as well for gambling with the children's hopes and expectations?

Rings and indentations? Pleasure ribs and flint marks both?

Sorry, but I think someone was just looking for a way to publicize their boring research by "spicing it up" with a little bit of fantasy...
